Ernie Millar

29th January 1949 – 22nd January 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the sad loss of Ernie Millar.

Ernie spent his whole life in the Newbury/Thatcham area of West Berkshire, running his own very successful plastering business for the last 50 years, where local builders considered him a master craftsman.

Ernie has been a valued, long standing member, official and helper of the club over many years, including membership and trials secretary, as well as organising the Jack Englefield Trial on many occasions and always a willing helper at working parties.

Ernie greatly enjoyed many forms of motorcycling. He was also a member of Tadley Sporting MCC in the early years riding in many trials. This riding ability is very obvious when you see him riding streams and tracks on his trail bike, another of his passions. He was in at the start of the Mortimer Classic scrambles scene, participating himself for many years.

Ernie was hugely liked and respected by all and always enjoyed the social side of the club. A good friend and “mate” to so many, he will be so greatly missed.

Ernie leaves his wife, Hilary and his family, to whom we send our sincere condolences.
